New York and New Jersey Facelift
Serving rhytidectomy patients from New York City and Manhattan, NY, and Englewood, NJ
What is a Facelift?
Age and excessive sun exposure often lead to wrinkles and grooves on your face, forehead and neck. You can also develop fat deposits and folds around your jaws and jowls. In New York and New Jersey, a facelift, or rhytidectomy, can help tauten and smooth your face by lifting up the skin, tissues and underlying muscles.
Because your face is always open to scrutiny, it can be easy to feel dissatisfied and embarrassed by its appearance. Dr. David L. Abramson has worked with many patients who want to regain a youthful-looking visage through a facelift in New York or New Jersey. His New York City and Englewood, NJ, offices are open to men and women from Manhattan and other nearby locales.
Is a Facelift Right for Me?
The majority of facelift patients are in their early 50s or older, although people in their 70s and 80s have also undergone the procedure. You may be a good rhytidectomy candidate if you have:
- sagging in the mid-face
- deep creases below the lower eyelids
- deep creases running from the nose to the corners of the mouth
- "jowls" caused by loss of muscle tone in the lower part of the face
- displaced fat
- loose skin and excess fatty deposits under the chin and jaw
If you are unhappy with the way your face is aging, then please contact Dr. Abramson for more information about a facelift. He will answer any questions you may have and will listen carefully to your concerns. His skills and experience have helped improve the self-image of patients across the region, including men and women from New York City, Englewood and Manhattan.
What is the Surgery for a Facelift?
There are various techniques for a facelift, depending on the extent of the desired change and the patient's facial structure. A traditional facelift involves an incision that begins in the hairline at the temples and continues around the ear, ending in the lower scalp. Your facelift surgeon will sculpt or redistribute the fat in your face, jowls and neck. The underlying tissue is then repositioned. Frequently, the deeper layers of the face and the muscles are lifted, as well. Your skin will be redraped over the uplifted contours, and the excess is trimmed away. Sometimes, your rhytidectomy will require a second incision under the chin to further improve your neck.
