About Aerolase Laser Skin Treatments

The Aerolase Neo Elite laser is an advanced, medical-grade laser that bypasses the top layer of skin to directly heat the dermis and treat skin concerns without causing discomfort or surface damage. It uses ultra-short microsecond pulses to safely target many skin concerns, including acne, rosacea, melasma, scarring, sun damage, and vascular lesions with zero downtime. No cooling is necessary.

Post-Op Facial Surgery Skin Maintenance

Aerolase laser treatments rejuvenate the skin after facial surgery. Dr. Abramson commonly recommends it to improve results, such as reducing inflammation, accelerating healing, stimulating collagen, and minimizing surgical scarring. Dr. Abramson will tailor this treatment according to your case, but typically, he will recommend an initial series of three to four treatments, spaced about three to four weeks apart.

Preparation

Effectively preparing for your Aerolase laser skin treatment may help to optimize outcomes. In general, Dr. Abramson advises:

  • Discontinuing the use of harsh or abrasive topical products (2)
  • Avoiding waxing, chemical peels, or other deep laser treatments
  • Arriving to your appointment bare-faced, free of lotions, sunscreen, and makeup
  • Avoiding tanning and protecting your skin from prolonged, direct sun exposure
  • Staying hydrated
  • Postponing any cosmetic injections for at least two weeks before and after treatment

Procedure

Dr. Abramson will begin your treatment by evaluating your skin and calibrating the Aerolase device to your needs. Next, he will provide you with protective eyewear and cleanse your skin. He will maneuver the handheld laser device over the entire treatment area, holding it roughly an inch away from your skin. (3)

The laser may feel warm, but it does not cause any significant discomfort. Dr. Abramson will focus on your specific areas of concern using higher-precision or micro-spot pulses to target imperfections like discoloration, hyperpigmentation, or acne scarring, simultaneously stimulating deep collagen production.

After addressing the areas of concern, he will apply a soothing ointment to calm the skin and lock in moisture. The entire treatment takes about 20 to 45 minutes, though patient experiences may vary.

Recovery

The Aerolase laser requires essentially no downtime, which means you can immediately resume your normal routine. Your skin may appear red and feel warm, but these are normal reactions that typically fade within a few hours. In any case, you should avoid direct sun exposure and continue to protect your skin.

Aerolase Results

Early results may become noticeable after the first week, while sunspots, melasma, and other pigmentation issues begin to fade after three weeks. By weeks four and six, you will notice tighter and brighter-looking skin, and acne scarring, fine lines, and vascular lesions will continue to fade as collagen and elastin levels improve. After about six weeks, you likely see significant reductions in deeper issues like facial scarring, hyperpigmentation, redness, and rosacea.

Over time, your skin will continue to produce collagen and elastin to strengthen your skin barrier and improve overall skin health. Dr. Abramson typically recommends scheduling regular sessions every 6 to 12 months to preserve your results and support your skin long-term.
